Bunbury copped a weekend drenching with more than 50mm of rain falling across a four-day period between Friday and yesterday.

Despite the downpours, Bunbury was spared the brunt of the weekend’s weather as many other South West towns received considerably more.

Donnybrook had 66.6mm on Sunday, Busselton had 59.4mm on Saturday and 47.6mm on Friday, while Manjimup had 40.6mm on Saturday.

One person who got a close look at the rain’s impact was Diana McGirr, whose Argyle farm is on the Preston River.

She said this was the third time since 2011 her property had been flooded due to rising river levels.

“What was incredible about this weekend was the ground was so saturated that water was sitting on paddocks like lakes,” she said.

Despite the rain, which also left her rainwater tank overflowing, she did not experience any problems and expected water levels to subside in the coming days, with her horses also unharmed.

Bunbury’s wettest weekend day was Saturday, where 17.6mm fell, with 15.2mm falling on Friday.

The 50.2mm over four days helped push Bunbury’s July rainfall to 68.6mm, just under half the monthly average of 141.2mm.

The Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting more rain for Bunbury in the next few days.

Wednesday is expected to be the week’s wettest day although no more than 10mm is forecast for any day.

High minimum temperatures were also a feature of last weekend across the region.

Saturday’s minimum was 14.1C in Bunbury, 14.5C in Busselton and 13.9C in Manjimup, while Bunbury also had a 12.2C minimum on Sunday.
