White take victory on the buzzer

A buzzer beater by Aces White’s Brody England gave his side a thrilling 64-63 victory against Busselton in the Bunbury Basketball Association’s Dale Alcock Homes A-Grade competition on Friday night.

The game was tight throughout, with Busselton’s six-point lead at three-quarter time the biggest of the game.

England’s game winner capped off a great night for the teenager, as he scored a game-high 25 points, with teammates Matt Germs (13 points) and Aaron Edwards (10 points) providing support.

Busselton were led by Matt Mansfield who scored 20 points, while Dylan Ness (18 points) and Beau Chinnery (14 points) were also solid.

Bulls Gold are still undefeated after a 100-86 win over Tornadoes Red.

Tre Nichols scored a game-high 38 points, which included seven three-pointers for the winners, while Brynn Francis added 26 points and Teny Puot chipped in 16.

Jordan Barlow scored 18 points for Red, with Jordan Sears scoring 17 points and Jay Walton adding 13.

Tornadoes Black kept their place in second position on the ladder with an 89-70 win over club-mates Grey, with 2016 Peel Thunder WAFL Premiership player Brayden Lawler scoring a game-high 20 points for the winners.

Nat van Dijk (18 points) and Carey Watkins (15 points) also played well for Black, while Jordan Yarran (15 points) and Brandon Bennell (14 points) were the best for Grey.

Bulls Maroon defeated Aces Navy 94-53 with Trent Worthington scoring 28 points for the winners.

Wade Hitchcock (22 points) and Michael Gliddon (17 points) combined for nine three-pointers, while Clayton Dickinson scored 17 points for Navy.

In the Women’s competition, Bulls kept their undefeated season intact with a 75-67 over Aces White.

Courtney Bayliss scored 33 points for Bulls, slightly above her league leading average of 31 points per game, while Georgia Denehey added 20 points.

Tiahna Sears (16 points) and Jasmine Barrett (14 points) were Whites stand-out players for the match.

Cellar dwellers Busselton started their game with Tornadoes well and only had a six-point deficit early in the second quarter, but ultimately Tornadoes pulled away to win 91-42.

Tayah Burrows (21 points) and Cian Parsons (19 points) were Tornadoes best, while Felicity Jones (17 points) and Dragana Kovijanic (10 points) were Busselton’s best.
