Businesses in Greater Bunbury are being asked to get into the Christmas spirit to encourage shoppers to buy locally and enter the Bunbury Chamber of Commerce and Industries' Christmas window display competition.

BCCI executive committee member Katie Jabs said the chamber's aim was to promote retail in the Greater Bunbury region.

"The competition is around to get people into the festive feeling and recognise the shops which put a bit of effort into the festive season," she said.

"It is free promotion for businesses around town.

"Hopefully it boosts retail and gets people interested in shopping local."

This year there is no registration for the competition and all voting is done through the Chamber's Instagram page.

"We are going around and taking photos of places we think should be in the competition and those who want to be in the competition," Mrs Jabs said.

"It is all about the chamber supporting the region. We are now on Facebook as well as Instagram."

Mrs Jabs said the competition also brightened the region.

One impressive effort was at Brainspice, which had a display showing flying kangaroos towing a sleigh.

"Then Fleurs of Bunbury have amazing wings made out of bark, Eshe does amazing window displays and Cakeworks have done an amazing winter wonderland scene," she said.

The winning business this year will receive a hamper while one lucky voter will also win a prize.

To vote, head to the BCCI's Instagram page and like the decorated business you think is the best.
