Willy Wonka theme for big night (pictures)

There were oompa-loompas, a chocolate fountain, lolly buffet and Willy Wonka himself at Manea Senior College’s Year 12 ball on Saturday night.

Around 250 teens dressed in their best gowns and suits for the Willy Wonka-themed night, held at the South West Italian Club.

The theme was embraced by school staff and teachers, led by school principal Paul Matthews, who dressed as the eccentric chocolate factory owner complete with a velvet waistcoat and top hat.

Year 12 coordinator and ball MC Chris Gill said students were in high spirits and had a fantastic time.

Georgia Dobbs and Matt Anaru were named Belle and Beau of the Ball before hitting the dance floor to DJ Steve.

Other awards on the night went to Rigby Maxwell and Trinity Spokes, who were named best dressed, Andrew Kratine who was best dancer and Blair Whittle and Rebecca Walker for best entrance.

Jye Daley and Demi Edwards were named cutest couple. Emma Glover and Brynn Wells.
