An eagle on the 17th today sealed the victory for Eastern States professional golfer Lindsay Wilson on the final day of yesterday’s Nexus South West Open at the Bunbury Golf Club.

Wilson was three shots ahead of second-placed Jason Norris, who bogeyed just a few holes earlier, but a sensational drive on the penultimate hole got him four shots ahead with one left to play.

As the rain fell, Lindsay played his final putt to finish 13 under par, three shots ahead of Norris.

The golfer from Dubbo, New South Wales said it was great having such a big lead heading into the last hole.

“My game has been solid lately, hitting a lot of good tee shots,” he said.

“He (Norris) started pretty well, with three under in the first nine but I knew the weather was coming in. I stuck to my game, kept hitting them well and got it done.”

Lindsay said if he had not eagled the 17th then the contest would have been tight.

Lindsay had a fantastic weekend, winning the four-ball competition as well as the night golf shootout on Sunday night.
