South West police are calling on witnesses to a brazen car pursuit through Carey Park and Gelorup this morning.

Police have since charged a 23-year-old Carey Park man over the incident, but officer-in-charge Sgt Craig Clarke said witnesses were needed to “corroborate” officers’ version of events.

The pursuit allegedly started on Frankel Street in Carey Park about 11.50am, when the driver of a red Holden ute failed to stop for police.

It continued past the Parks Centre towards Gelorup, where the offender allegedly did a burnout near the Caltex Star Mart Petrol Station.

Police lost sight of the vehicle in Gelorup, but have since arrested and charged the man with two counts of failing to stop in circumstances of aggravation and two counts of reckless driving to evade police.

Sgt Clarke said witnesses were needed to also help describe the manner of driving during the pursuit.

Anyone with information can contact police on 131 444.
