Woman lucky to escape rollover
A woman is lucky to have escaped a car rollover on South Western Highway with only minor injuries, according to Bunbury police.
The 54-year-old Margaret River woman was taken to hospital this afternoon with cuts and abrasions after her car came to a rest on its roof on the highway.
Bunbury Snr Const. Matthew Bayliss said the woman was driving home when the Suzuki Vitara left the road just before 2pm.
“There are indications that weather may have been a factor but there may also be mechanical issues with the vehicle,” he said.
“There was an obvious mechanical issue when we got there, but until a mechanic looks at the car I don’t want to say it was the cause of the crash.”
Snr Const. Bayliss said the car was a write-off.
Traffic was at a standstill until the road was cleared at about 2.45pm.
“The traffic had to be cleared quite quickly considering the time of day,” Snr Const. Bayliss said.
Police, fire and ambulance attended the scene.
