Woolworths is issuing a recall of 1kg Select wholegrain dog bones, available through the company’s Woolworths and Safeway stores nationally.

The sale of the bones from June 13, with a best before date of November 26 are being recalled because the product may contain pieces of string or twine.

If the string is consumed it may pose a food safety risk, with the potential to cause harm to animals, including intestinal irritation or intestinal obstruction.

As a precaution, consumers should not allow their dogs to eat this product and should return it to their nearest Woolworths for a full refund.
