Young leaders from across WA will meet next year at the Rotary Youth Leadership Award and the South West will be represented by a young woman striving for success.

Melissa Hinds will attend the annual program next year after being nominated by the Bunbury Leschenault Rotary Club where she was chosen while participating in its young achievers program.

The Rotary Youth Leadership Award is a program providing an opportunity for 18 to 26-year-olds to develop leadership skills and self confidence under the guidance of business professionals, Rotarians and Rylarians.

The 22-year-old got involved with Rotary after working with the South West Development Commission who asked her to attend the young achievers program.

"For me I want to do some confidence building," she said.

"I look at these as comfort challenges - we don't know what goes on, we just take it as it comes."

Young achievers coordinator Leanne O'Shea said Miss Hinds was a standout young leader.

"We wanted to support up and coming leaders who still live in the South West," she said.

"Melissa is also putting time into the 2015 Young Achievers Program. The last program was a huge success and we are hoping for more support in 2015."

Miss Hinds urged business owners to nominate staff who were eligible for the next young achievers program, from January 18 to 25.
