The 2019 Apex Bunbury Sleep Out is almost here, set to be held at the Graham Bricknell Memorial Music Shell on August 3.

Now in its third year, the event was designed to raise money and supply non-perishable items to service providers around Bunbury.

According to event chairwoman Sasha Nicholls, the event has raised more than $5000 in its first two editions and received about $5000 worth of non-perishable and sanitary items.

“This year the Bunbury Soup Van will be receiving all non-perishable goods,” Ms Nicholls said.

“Horizon House, who are a St John of God charity who deal with youth at risk or homeless and the South West Women’s Refuge, will each be receiving 50 per cent of all funds raised.”

Ms Nicholls also said the event was well ahead of previous fundraising totals but added she would love to see more people register to take part.

“We’re currently sitting at about 20, with a few people left I have to nag as they promised me they were going to register.”

As in previous years, there will be a range of activities to spread awareness for participants to take part in, including debates, an expanded visual wall brandishing cause messages and guest speakers including Bunbury MLA Don Punch.

The general public will be welcome to attend the event until 9pm when registered participants will start to settle in for the night.

Registrations close on August 1.
