Top-class wakeboarders and skateboarders as well as BMX and scooter riders put on a show as part of the Action Sports Games in Bunbury at the weekend.

Event director Tim Thirsk said watching Japan’s Shota Tezuka win the wakeboarding competition was a highlight.

“I’ve seen Shota ride a few times but he handled the rough conditions so well that it was unreal,” he said.

“Parker Siegle was an absolute dark horse and nobody expected him to reach the level he did in order to come second.”

The motocross demonstrations on Saturday evening were well received.

“That was huge, it was absolutely packed out,” Mr Thirsk said.

“I reckon there would have been 800 people watching on at the demonstrations.

“At the skate, BMX and scooter event on Sunday there was probably about 300 people in attendance throughout the day.”

Mr Thirsk was impressed by young Donnybrook rider Fabio Canettii’s effort to come fourth in the open BMX competition.

“He is one you’ll have to keep your eye on because I think he’ll have a huge future in front of him,” he said.

“He did really well in the intermediate competition last year and really took it up to his competition in the pro division this year.”
