Alert as Bunbury is blanketed by smoke

A smoke alert was in place after smoke blanketed Bunbury and surrounding suburbs yesterday afternoon.

Department of Fire and Emergency Services issued a smoke warning for Bunbury, Busselton and further south.

The smoke was from a prescribed burn off and was expected to clear by midday today.

It is understood a burn off is also under way in Davenport.

DFES said the smoke was “particularly thick” and people were recommended to shut doors and windows and turn off air-conditioners.
