Animals found skinned, beheaded and tied to tree in attacks in Margaret River, Donnybrook

Concerns for animal welfare are flooding across the South West after local residents have reported dealings of graphic animal mutilation. The RSPCA posted on their Facebook page yesterday afternoon after receiving reports of mutilated animal corpses found in Donnybrook and Margaret River. RSPCA received a report earlier this week of a mutilated kangaroo found cable-tied upside-down to a tree, with its head detached and reattached to its rear end. The kangaroo was found by a resident who was walking their dog on the Wallcliffe track, near Wallcliffe Road and Kevill Road East in Margaret River. Another incident was reported to the RSPCA last week after a person found a mutilated body of a wild boar in Donnybrook. The skin of the animal had been removed and draped over a discarded mattress nearby. Margaret River ranger coordinator Naz Graue said rangers attended the incident immediately and removed the kangaroo from the location. RSPCA WA Inspector Manager Kylie Green told the Times she was concerned people did not understand the severity of animal cruelty. “We want to remind people that animal cruelty is a serious criminal offence that can attract a fine of up to $50,000 and up to five years in jail,” she said.
