Young Shire of Dardanup residents are being asked to put their name forward for an exciting bush education program next year.

The council is calling for applications for the Bush Adventure Scholarship Program, which will see three residents aged 13 to 18 take part in a fully funded three-day adventure camp in Boranup Forest in April.

Shire president Tyrrell Gardiner said the program promised an exciting experience that went beyond the ordinary, with the aim to be transformative.

“From hiking through the Boranup Forest to engaging in activities such as caving, team building, camping, hiking, and Indigenous culture sessions, participants will be immersed in a holistic learning environment,” he said.

Cr Tyrrell said the initiative was one of many introduced by the council to address issues in youth such as crime and anti-social behaviour.

The camps are run by Right Foot Forward WA leader Jocelyn Evans, who has many years of expertise in nature-based outdoor education .

The scholarship is being supported by Bunbury 4x4, the Eaton Lions Club and J&P Group.

Applications for the scholarship program close on February 12.
