Artistic entry to Friendship Garden is turning heads
Creative thinking and businesses have helped bring an idea for an impressive entry statement to reality.
The cherry blossom engraved arbours at the entrance to Bunbury’s Friendship Garden were designed by City of Bunbury landscape and open space manager Kristy Tillett and are already turning heads.
The impressive artwork was installed last week at the Queens Gardens location.
Ms Tillett said the design just came to her as she stood in the area before starting the project and she could visualise it.
“I wanted to do something different and I wanted it to be respectful of the fact it’s an Australian park leading into the gardens recognising our international relationships,” Ms Tillett said.
“We ended up doing something a bit more artistic with something that could otherwise be quite boring.”
She said several local businesses were used for the project to weld the arbours and supply the plants and mulch.
Vines have been planted and will grow up the arbours to complete the project.
Ms Tillett said the project came in just under its $50,000 budget.
Bunbury City Council is encouraging people to treat the artwork with respect.
