The Bunbury Regional Art Gallery is calling for South West artists to submit an expression of interest for the biennial exhibition, South Western Times Art 2020.

Gallery director Dr Joanne Baitz said the exhibition was open to all ages and all variations of art.

“We are really open to different kinds of mediums such as digital VR, sound, three dimension, traditional two dimensional – its all art,” Dr Baitz said.

“This exhibition focuses on people who live in the South West region.

“For any emerging artist its really important to jump in and try these things.”

Dr Baitz said the submitted art work would be chosen based around the theme ‘2020’.

“We want to get expressions of interest in then we will go through quite a process looking at every piece of work with the curator to decide what we want in the show,” Dr Baitz said.

“Work is chosen to fit in with what our vision , so it’s not whether your work reaches a standard or not it’s whether it meets our vision for the exhibition.

“We want artists to respond to what is happening now and we are playing with the vision and the theme of ‘2020’.”

Dr Baitz said all entries would receive feedback from exhibition curator Lee Kinsella.

“Each artist will get feedback on their art whether it is accepted or not accepted and getting that kind of feedback from a curator like Lee Kinsella is invaluable for any artist,” Dr Baitz said.

“For artist that are already established, it is a great opportunity for emerging art sit to see that standard and to see how their work sits next to work of that quality – it is really important and this is a great opportunity for that.”
