Banks, firies get behind Purple Bra Day
Bunbury and Donnybrook Bendigo Bank branches threw their support behind Breast Cancer Care WA’s Purple Bra Day, donning purple bras, tutus and bow ties to raise awareness and money for the cause.
The charity provides personalised emotional, practical and financial support and care to women and men affected by breast cancer.
Each event had staff members manning the barbecue for a fundraising sausage sizzle in partnership with IGA, with each branch surpassing their target of $500.
Donnybrook branch customer service supervisor Kym Kent sincerely thanked “all those who bought or just donated, and helped make the few hours such a success”.
Donnybrook Fire and Rescue members Ben Anderson, Dennis Scoullar and Jess Cooper did their part to support the cause – drawing attention to the event by arriving in a fire truck.
Ben Anderson said the crew was always happy to support the local community.
“The Bendigo Bank which is a Community Bank, is always supporting our community so we like to support the Bank in any way we can,” he said.
“People need to remember that men can also get breast cancer.”
