BDCA 2022: All eyes on intriguing slate of games across minor grades

Leschenault’s positive start to their second grade campaign could continue should they defeat Harvey-Benger on Saturday afternoon at Leschenault Recreation Park.

The Green Caps looked brilliant during their opening round win over Colts at Forrest Park, with an unbeaten 79 from Christo Le Roux punctuating their triumph.

Harvey-Benger’s bowling attack will need to take quick wickets, given Leschenault is filled with first grade-hardened batters, including Justin Woods and Shaun Flanagan.

For those keen to watch a feel-good story evolve, keep an eye on Marist father-son combination Daniel and Finn Marshall.

Finn, a hard-working teenager who umpires football during winter, took 6-22 (off seven overs) for the Blues in their fifth grade win over Rising Stars in round one — a performance which resulted in a promotion to third grade with his dad last Saturday against Capel.

Fifth grade outfit Burekup will also be keen to get back into the winners’ circle on Saturday following last weekend’s loss to Colts, when they travel to Hay Park for a date with the Redbacks.
