The Eaton Boomers made a big statement to the rest of the competition when they demoralised a disappointing Carey Park by 94 points at Kelly Park on Saturday.

Boomers forward Brandon Jetta booted seven goals, while Greg Humphries was outstanding against his former team in the 20.11 (131) to 5.7 (37) drubbing.

The Boomers jumped quickly, kicking the first three goals.

Carey Park gathered themselves and started to compete strongly, kicking the next two goals through Riese Wilkey and Malek Wallam (three goals).

The match was then broken wide open by the Boomers in the second term.

Their defence, led by Greg Humphries, Nathan McCosker and Jayme Osiejak, was superb.

Jetta kicked three goals for the term in a dominant display, while the Boomers’ midfield was also on top and by half-time they led by 49 points. The third term was a strange quarter of football.

Between the two sides they kicked seven straight behinds and the match, while being quite open, was a stalemate on the scoreboard.

Boomers ruckman Brendan Page finally broke the deadlock when he kicked a goal in the last minute of the term.

The Boomers then flexed their muscle in the final quarter as they booted seven goals to one.

Jetta kicked another three to take his tally to seven, while the youngster Isiah Winder kicked two.

Jaxon Bell was the best for the Panthers because he never gave up, but he lacked support.
