Boost for Scouts’ Jamboree anniversary trip
A trip to a joyous jamboree has been made a little easier for four lucky Carey Park scouts.
Apex Bunbury Koombana presented an $8000 cheque to the scouts group so its young members could head to next year’s 25th Australian Scout Jamboree in South Australia.
Apex member Brian Morris said the club was pleased it could help out some the community’s youngest residents.
“I’m also on the scout club’s board and the conversation came up about the scouts jamboree,” Mr Morris said.
“I thought that a few of the scouts’ families may need financial assistance to help them get their scouts to the jamboree.”
The annual jamboree is a 10-day event for junior scouts and includes workshops, activities and entertainment.
With the trip set to cost the scouts $2500 each, the donation is a massive relief for the youths.
“It’s a massive help and now these kids get a huge life experience,” Mr Morris said.
He said the Apex club strived to help the community.
“Apex is all about finding needs in the community and fulfilling them,” he said.
“We have the opportunity to change lives all the time and we really enjoy being a part of our growing community.”
