Boyanup estate is defying trend

Meadowbrooke Residential Estate in Boyanup has continued to grow after welcoming new residents last week.

Meadowbrooke general manager Michelle Elson said despite a slow property market, properties at the estate were proving popular with more than 25 per cent of the first stage sold.

“We have a vision that sees the project add a great amount of value to Boyanup, both infra-structurally and financially,” she said.

“We have created new jobs for locals in both the development phase and in ongoing employment since our first residents moved in earlier this year.”

Mrs Elson, who has lived in the South West for 17 years, said the project was not just good for new residents, but good for the Boyanup community as a whole.

“Upon completion there will be 181 new homes and around 300 new people,” she said. “This will really help invigorate the local economy and services in town.

“Already we have had a chemist and medical facilities set-up in anticipation of the growth, and the local businesses are obviously very excited about its potential.”

Barry Hall, who was one of the first people to move to the estate, said he was pleased with the way the community was developing.

“I have never been a part of anything like this before and I was a bit anxious when I first moved in,” he said.

“But we have been really impressed. It is a really nice area and it is close to good shops and medical facilities.

“It has been nice to be able to get to know the neighbours and we all seem to get along so far.”

Mrs Elson said she expected the new residents would help to market the estate to new customers.
