Both Bulls Gold and Tornadoes Black will look to back up their impressive opening round victories in week two of the Bunbury Senior Basketball League.

Bulls Gold, who opened their campaign with a no-nonsense 140-59 belting of the basement-bound Eaton Eagles, are likely to face a greater challenge this week when they square off against Aces Sky, who narrowly lost 87-82 against Tornadoes Red.

Although tasting defeat in the opening round of the campaign is never ideal, Aces Sky can take heart from the fact they did plenty of good things — with their early 20-6 lead a testament to this.

While a hot start once again is critical, the Aces’ defence will need to keep Bulls Gold playmaker Pharell Keats quiet, given his desire to finish off slick passes into the paint with points.

Bulls Maroon, a team full of seasoned campaigners, were pushed firmly by competition debutant Conquerors last Friday night, holding on for a gripping 80-78 win.

Their next assignment, a youthful Tornadoes Red, is also likely going to be a challenging task, with player availability (or lack thereof) potentially having an impact on the final result.

Former South West Slammers champion Clive Weeden wound back the clock last week to deliver a five-star performance for Bulls Maroon and his guidance is likely to prove telling in tight games.

Both Eaton Eagles-Tornadoes Black match ups will be held at the Eaton Recreation Centre, while all other games will remain at the South West Sports Centre.
