Bunbury community gets behind fourth-time Olympian Lauren Reynolds

Soon to be four-time Olympian Lauren Reynolds will have the full support of her hometown BMX club who told the Times they are proud of their champion rider.

Reynolds joined the club in 1999 as an eight-year-old. Bunbury BMX Club spokesperson saying it has been an honour to watch their “Lozza” grow up, and keep her passion for riding.

“Lauren is the definition of hard work and determination,” the spokesperson said.

“Her community and club spirit has continued on many years after she has left our shores.

”Lauren has contributed to club fundraisers over the years by donating items such as jerseys and helmets.”

Paris 2024 marks Reynolds’ fourth Olympic Games, cementing herself as a heavy-hitter in her sport.

“Qualifying for an Olympics is an incredible achievement, but to qualify for four consecutive Olympics is beyond words,” the spokesperson said.

“Lauren is such an amazing ambassador and role model for our club with many riders looking up to her.

“The Bunbury BMX Club and its members are incredibly proud of Lauren’s efforts and we wish her all the best in Paris.”

Reynolds’ high school Bunbury Catholic College is also gearing up to back her — and other Olympic alumni.

Reynolds will be joined by marathon swimmer Kyle Lee, Kookaburras defender Jake Harvie, with Paralympic swimmer Alex Saffy also set to head to Paris.

Coincidentally, Reynolds was also in the same graduating class as Olympic rower Alexandra Hagan, who competed in London in 2012 and Rio de Janeiro in 2016.

Principal Michael Pepper said the school would be cheering them on from back home.

“We are immensely proud of our alumni who will be representing Australia at the Paris Games,” he said.

“We wish all our athletes the best of luck in bringing all their training and hard work to fruition.

“Our college will be watching these ex-students as they compete, cheering them on and celebrating their achievements.”

The school will be broadcasting live coverage in the cafeteria and library, and hosting an Olympics dress-up day next week.
