Bunbury named WA’s tidiest town

For the first time in 50 years Bunbury has been named WA’s tidiest town.

Announced at a function at Kings Park today, Bunbury was crowned the winner based on various projects, such as the Koombana Bay transformation, litter and waste management, community education and its ‘commitment to sustainability’.

The Youth Advisory Council was also successful by winning the State Young Legends Award.

Environment Minister Stephen Dawson said Bunbury had shown its projects improved the lives of residents and also contributed to future-proofing the city through sustainability projects.

“These projects have started out at a grass-roots level and epitomise how small scale ideas have the potential to lead to positive change across the wider WA community," he said.

Bunbury and the other category winners Albany, Northam, Esperance, Carnarvon, Nullagine, Bridgetown and Martu Farm will all now be entered into the National Tidy Towns awards in Alice Springs next April.
