Concerns over the long-awaited Bunbury Outer Ring Road were again voiced during last week’s CBD Planning Forum.

With the focus now on attracting people into the CBD, several people raised questions about how the planned road would help as opposed to directing more visitors away from Bunbury.

But prominent Bunbury businessman Colin Piacentini responded to concerns during the forum saying the bypass road would free up access to the city and in turn make it more appealing.

Mayor Gary Brennan echoed Mr Piacentini’s support, telling the South Western Times the road would encourage more visitors into the city and “remove the conflict” of bigger transport vehicles.

“(The intent is ) to ease the flow of major traffic away from the urban areas, make it more attractive for people to move away from those larger roads to more motorist friendly roads,” Mr Brennan said.
