Campsite booking goes digital with DBCA opening online bookings for popular South West locations

Bookings for several popular South West campsites have gone digital, allowing visitors to plan and pay for trips six months in advance.

The Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions announced eight locations were added to its online booking system Park Stay WA on Monday, allowing visitors to book their spots and make payments 180 days in advance.

Online bookings have been made available at Sues Bridge Campground and Warner Glen Campground in Blackwood River National Park, Canebrake Pool Campground in Rapids Conservation Park, Wrights Bridge Campground in Powlalup Nature Reserve, Barrabup Pool Campground and Workmans Pool Campground in St John Brook Conservation Park, and Boranup Campground and Point Road Campground in Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park

DBCA visitor services assistant director Rod Annear said the changes are about fairness, flexibility and assurance of accommodation on arrival.

“Given the popularity of the South West as a holiday destination, people who cannot travel spontaneously due to work, family or other commitments, need the security of being able to book campsites in advance to guarantee accommodation,” he said.

“Currently, sites in 69 campgrounds across the State can be booked through Park Stay WA and DBCA is continually improving the online booking experience for our customers.”

Mr Annear said under the Park Stay WA system people can cancel a booking up to one day in advance so their spot can be made available for another camper.

Last-minute bookings will also still be welcome, with the system allowing same day bookings.

New signage has been installed across the eight South West campsites where the changes have been implemented over the past two months.
