Bunbury is set to come alive with festive cheer on Sunday as Christmas in the City returns.

Thousands are set to head to the heart of the City of Bunbury this weekend for the council’s signature event of the festive season.

Deputy Mayor Tresslyn Smith is excited about what this year’s event has to offer.

“It’s always something to look forward to especially for the families and everyone involved,” she said.

“We are lucky to have fabulous staff organising the event.

“Hopefully everyone enjoys it, it’s especially good even if you don’t have a huge family to come along and get involved.”

Some of this year’s event highlights include the Christmas Carnival, the LiSTNR Street Parade and the Carols Concert.

There will be plenty of food trucks on offer, while those in the mood for a festive movie will be treated to a screening of The Grinch.

Bunbury’s very own Top Jazz Ballet crew will be taking part in this year’s street parade.

Owner Helen Goff said the group is involved in many different programs and events around the city and that this is “great to keep them busy”.

Ms Goff noted the event helps to ”generate excitement for Christmas” for the crew, all while giving back to the community.

This year’s Christmas in the City is part of the City’s new Summer Lovin’ program, which runs through December and January.

Festivities kick off at 11am and run through to 8pm.
