City honoured as finalist in Heritage awards
Bunbury City Council has been honoured as one of 25 finalists in this year’s Western Australian Heritage Awards.
The awards acknowledge outstanding contributions to heritage conservation, adaptive reuse, promotion, tourism and interpretation.
The council has been recognised in the category of Heritage Practices by a Local Government.
Mayor Gary Brennan said the nomination was recognition of the efforts of the council and members of the Heritage Advisory Committee and their commitment to preserving Bunbury’s heritage.
“Projects such as conservation work to the Anzac War Memorial, Bunbury Museum and Heritage Centre and the Koombana Bay footbridge interpretation development are just some of the brilliant work carried out by the city,” Mr Brennan said.
“Heritage is an important topic and assists us in understanding the story of our local community – our history, identity and diversity.”
The award winners will be announced at the WA Heritage Awards on March 23.
