One of Bunbury’s most popular recreational paths will be given a makeover next week when Bunbury City Council kicks off a number of path and infrastructure upgrades.

The Big Swamp Parklands path, which runs along Tuart Street and Prince Phillip Drive, will be removed and replaced with a wider red asphalt path and new kerbing.

The revamp of the popular pathway is among several projects set to start on Monday.

Bunbury Mayor Gary Brennan said the improvements to community infrastructure would have positive outcomes for residents.

“By upgrading these paths, cycleways and roads, we are improving linkages for pedestrians and motorists to get where they need to be,” Mr Brennan said.

“The community recently identified that paths and cycleways should be a priority focus of council so we are promoting the work we do in this space to ensure the community stays informed.”

The work is expected to take eight weeks with traffic management in place.

Work will also start on further enhancing the CBD with upgrades to paths, parking and kerbs along Victoria Street between Wellington and Clifton streets.

Sandridge Road will be given a new lease of life when it undergoes a kerb replacement and a reseal with the road to be resealed between Blair Street and Denning Road as well as drainage repairs, new kerbing and verge reinstatement.

A new 2.5m wide shared path providing a safer passage will also be constructed along South Western Highway from Robertson Drive to Grant Smith Entrance.
