Climate protester causes traffic chaos at busy Bunbury CBD intersection with bizarre peak-hour stunt
A lone protester has held up traffic in the Bunbury CBD with a bizarre stunt, forcing drivers to cross to the other side of the road at a busy roundabout.
The man is holding two signs and two flags protesting the recent Glasgow Climate Summit and is sat at the westbound entry to the roundabout on the corner of Clifton Street and Victoria Street.
A chalk drawing has also been made on Clifton Street.
Frustrated drivers took to social media this morning, with one claiming he heard the lone wolf protester shouting “Nola Marino doesn’t give a s*** about you” outside the Forrest MHR’s Bunbury office.
A photo was posted in the Bunbury Crime Stoppers Facebook group.
“Watch out for this numpty sitting in the middle of the road making people drive around the roundabout on the wrong side of the road,” the caption read.
The South Western Times understands Police were called to the scene and the protester has since been moved on.
Protests are a regular occurrence outside Ms Marino’s office, but South West District Police Supt Geoff Stewart said most are peaceful and cause no inconvenience to the public.
“Up until now all the protests have been orderly,” he said.
“People have been good.”
