Day brings a night of music

South Western Times

Up and coming Margaret River folk-roots artist Tom Day will kick off his first ever national tour in Bunbury at a secret Bunbury venue as he performs at an intimate Good Nights gig tomorrow night.

Day promised fans to expect “a night full of music, songs and stories” and will share his newly released single When I Fall, produced by Gelorup’s own award-winning engineer James Newhouse and well-known singer-songwriter Dave Mann.

With 18 shows lined up across four states, Day is eager to spread his wings.

“I just cannot wait to start and to just get up and go,” he said.

Day is rapidly making a name for himself thanks to his phenomenal guitar work and foot-thumping, energetic stage presence.

The singlelyrically tackles the serious topic of mental health issues and the relationship strains that are rife within the music industry.

“It was written at a time where there was a lot of talk of that going around in the music industry and a lot of pretty nasty stuff was happening,” he said. “There are a lot of sad songs about depression, so I thought I would write a song that makes me feel happy when I play it, so that was the thought process when I was writing it.”

Day said Good Nights was the perfect platform to tell the stories behind the songs rather than “just playing to a rowdy pub”. Tickets are available from www.alwaysgoodnights.com.
