The Department of Fire and Emergency Services is warning South West residents to take action and stay safe with severe weather on its way.

The Bureau of Meteorology has advised a developing strong cold front and low could produce severe weather conditions across the South West from late this morning through to early tomorrow morning.

The worst weather is expected south-west of a line from Mandurah to Walpole.

The strong cold front and deep low may produce damaging winds to 100km/h that could result in damage to homes and property.

Dangerous gusts in excess of 125km/h are possible in some areas, while there is a chance of thunderstorms and small hail with the passage of the front.

DFES advised the weather was not unusual for this time of year, but could damage homes and make driving dangerous.

The front is expected to be windier than a typical front and is likely to produce the kind of weather only seen about twice a year.

DFES is monitoring the situation.

If your home has been badly damaged by a storm, call the SES on 132 500 or in a life-threatening situation call 000.
