Dynamos are in the hunt

South Western Times

South West Soccer League champions and Premier League leaders Bunbury United sat back and watched the second-placed Dynamos defeat Australind 4-1 to close the gap on them.

And setting themselves up for their match of the round against United, Hay Park played out an entertaining three-all draw with the Dalyellup Rangers at Dalyellup on Sunday.

The home team’s supporters were given something to cheer about in the fifth minute when Rob McCaulay scored, before both teams settled into an end-to-end struggle.

Two goals were scored in quick succession by man-of-the-match Paul Madondo to give Hay Park the lead, before B.J. Rafferty equalised.

Josh Atherton then scored to put Dalyellup in front, before Nick Bremner broke hearts when he scored the equaliser in injury time.

Moving into the second half of their close encounter with a 2-1 scoreline BJ Rafferty levelled with a fine, angled grounder from a counter attack on the hour with Josh Atherton putting the home team in front again when he nipped in between a posse of Hay Park defenders to score.

It was nip and tuck to the end with a McRory shot sailing just wide and goalkeeper Muhsen Kazemi making a couple of desperate saves with Hay Park pair Liam Allison and Jack Betts battling hard until Nick Bremner breaking the Hay Park hearts with an injury time goal to level.

At the other end of the points table, Busselton defeated Dunsborough 2-1 with Mick Newell and Corben Wilson both scoring. This weekend Busselton play Dynamos while Dunsborough and Dalyellup do battle in Dunsborough.
