Fishing ban starts Sunday

South Western Times

Sunday marks the start of the closed season for catching demersal finfish in the West Coast Bioregion.

The take or landing of demersal finfish is prohibited during this period.

If anglers catch a demersal finfish from a boat or from shore in this area during the closed season it must be returned to the water as soon as possible.

Demersal species include dhufish, pink snapper and baldchin groper.

The region stretches from north of Kalbarri to east of Augusta.

Fishing for demersal finfish resumes on December 16.
