Former Bunbury Bulldog Aiden Clarke has come into his own at league level for Swan Districts this year.

In just his second full season in the WAFL, the 23-year-old has been instrumental in the Swans’ push towards finals.

Clarke is averaging 27 disposals, five marks and five tackles for the Black Ducks — who sit sixth on the ladder behind Peel Thunder on percentage — after averaging only 17 touches in 2021.

The midfielder, who won the 2017 Pike Medal for a best-on-ground performance in Bunbury’s 50-point grand final win over Harvey-Brunswick-Leschenault, has been dominant of late and has not recorded less than 25 disposals in the last eight matches.

Clarke was unable to get the Swans across the line at the weekend as they went down to Claremont by nine points, with reigning Sandover Medallist Bailey Rogers starring as he picked up 37 touches and a goal.

Meanwhile, fellow Bunbury product Connor Blakely has continued to get plenty of the ball for Peel against East Perth.

The Dockers-listed midfielder had 34 touches and 11 marks as the Thunder beat the Royals by 53 points.

The out-of-favour midfielder last played for the Dockers last year in their round 22 derby win over the West Coast Eagles.

Elsewhere, Margaret River product Jonathon Marsh kicked five goals for East Fremantle in their 96-point win over Perth, taking his tally to 28 for the season to stay in the hunt for the Bernie Naylor Medal.
