Keip Filtration owner Brendan Earl says winning both the Aboriginal Award and the Young Business Achiever Award was a great honour.

The Collie-based company claimed both awards at this year’s South West Small Business Awards.

Mr Earl said he was excited for the future of his company after winning the awards.

“I know whatever is entailed for us in the future is positive,” he said.

“The way things are going and the way the whole business feels is that it is just going to get better and better.

“Everyone says you are going to have a down time but I don’t see it happening any time in the near future.”

Mr Earl said he had been focused on building the company over the past two years.

“We started out as a plumbing company in 2011 but then we changed over to KEIP in 2016,” he said.

“We are the only business who install and maintain our systems and we do a lot of custom designs for people.”

Mr Earl said the need for treated water had become more relevant in recent years.

“With people becoming greener, we really want people to cut down on using water bottles,” he said.

“Nothing frustrates me more than going into a house and opening the fridge to see 50 water bottles sitting there when the house is hooked up to mains water.”

“So we are doing our bit and I just hope others can help out too.”
