The Apex Club of Bunbury Koombana volunteers were busy on the barbecues on Friday as hundreds of people shared breakfast to kick start their Australia Day celebrations at Bicentennial Square.

The crowd helped to welcome 38 new citizens from 10 different countries as they took the pledge at the Mayor’s Citizenship Ceremony, following the announcement that Helen Robinson was the City of Bunbury Citizen of the Year.

Morrissey Homestead Incorporated was named the Community Group of the Year, Samantha Russell was awarded the Young Citizen of the Year and the Apex club received the Willcox Brown Perpetual Trophy.
