Graffiti costs community more than money

Bunbury Geographe Chamber of Commerce and Industry is calling on business owners to be alert as criminals continue to graffiti areas of the city.

The chamber this week sent a message to its members to be vigilant and report any graffiti.

“The cost of graffiti is more significant than the clean-up figure – graffiti influences perceptions of crime, reduces pride in the community and displaces funds which could be spent elsewhere,” the chamber said.

Hardware and paint supply businesses have also been encouraged to be vigilant and decline sales of paint spray cans and paint pens if there are suspicions and report to police.
