For the first time since 2019, music lovers across WA will finally have a groove in Bunbury as the popular Groovin’ The Moo music festival is set to make its big return in May.

GTM organisers shared some good “moos” on Wednesday, confirming the regional music festival will be returning to a full national tour in April and May, including a date at Bunbury’s Hay Park on Saturday May 6.

It is the first time the festival will be heading west in four years, after it was first cancelled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

While the festival made its return in 2022, the tour did not include a stop in WA, with promoters saying they could not confidently deliver the show.

GTM promoter Steve Halpin said he was “so happy to be able to do a full tour across the country in 2023”.

“We have missed you terribly and can’t wait to bring back the good times around the country,” he said.

The City of Bunbury announced last June it had allocated $15,000 towards the festival for 2023 after it did not return to WA last year.

Bunbury Mayor Jaysen Miguel said the City was “really excited” to have the festival make its return.

“It is an event that the local community really get behind and it brings plenty of people into Bunbury which is great for accommodation providers and local businesses,” he said.

“Groovin’ The Moo, along with the vast selection of growing events in Bunbury, continue to showcase all that the Bunbury Geographe region has to offer.”

Since beginning in 2005 and first venturing to WA in 2010, Groovin’ The Moo has brought plenty of national and international music talent over the years.

Former headliners include Billie Eilish, Charli XCX, A$AP Ferg, Hilltop Hoods, Thelma Plum, PNAU, Empire of the Sun, Grinspoon, Wolfmother and San Cisco.
