Harvey Bulls coach Mark Pink pumps brakes ahead of clash with Donnybrook after upset win over South Bunbury

Harvey Bulls coach Mark Pink has said his side would not be complacent going into the weekend’s clash with Donnybrook after claiming one of the biggest upsets in the recent history of the SWFL at the weekend when they thrashed premiership fancies South Bunbury. The Bulls charged into fifth on the ladder after beating the Tigers 20.6 (126) to 8.12 (60) at Hands Oval on Sunday, but Pink pumped the brakes, and said Harvey could not afford to read too much into the result. “We know that we have a lot of work to do, we probably had one of those days out of the box where everything goes right,” he said. “We were fairly lucky, South Bunbury had an off-day and we probably had one of our better days. “We know that that is not the best South Bunbury can offer. “Our biggest problem (this weekend) won’t be complacency, we are not going to get ahead of ourselves.” Despite Pink not wanting to get too excited about knocking off one of the highly touted sides in the competition he admitted the one-two-punch of forwards Tyson Powell and Brad Holmes, who kicked 14 goals between them at the weekend, was starting to be a highlight of Harvey’s game. Both Powell and Holmes — who was the SWFL’s leading goal kicker last year — have kicked 15 goals this season, and Pink said he was pleased to see them working well together. “They are just quality blokes and I am really happy to see them having success,” he said. “Brad has had a bit of success individually, but I am happy he is seeing team success. “Tyson has fitted in seamlessly into our side.” Meanwhile, Donnybrook sit in seventh on the ladder having not won a game since round two, with losses to the Eaton Boomers, Augusta-Margaret River and a bye in the last three rounds of football.
