Hundreds gather to pay respect on Anzac Day in Collie
Hundreds gathered at Collie’s Soldiers Park on Anzac Day to pay respects to fallen diggers.
The service began with veterans and representatives marching into Soldiers Park before Collie-Cardiff RSL president Gary Benton welcomed the big crowd.
Collie shire president Ian Miffling gave a personal address discussing how strong the Anzac spirit lives on.
“Time heals all wounds, and for many this can lead to forgiveness,” he said.
“For as new generations that appear, the people of that time can reflect upon the madness that drove countries to war.
“While our young are far too young to fully comprehend the horrors that was inflicted on communities across the world, it is hoped they will one day fully understand, and that we must never forget the misery and destruction that war can bring.”
