International affairs beckon Amber

Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School 2017 head girl and dux Amber Anderson is one of 10 high-achieving students in WA to be awarded a University of Western Australia Fogarty Scholarship.

The scholarship offers the State’s brightest and most committed students a generous scholarship for the entirety of their undergraduate degree, including honours, and a further contribution towards postgraduate studies.

Having attended primary school in Margaret River and completed high school with flying colours last year, Amber said being a boarder at BCGS made the transition to college life much easier.

“The school allowed me to get involved in heaps of academic, music and sporting competitions and clubs – I wouldn’t have been aware of how much there is to be a part of if it wasn’t for Grammar,” she said.

The scholarship will help fund Amber’s choice to undertake a research-oriented honours degree in Environmental Science and Politics and International Relations under a Bachelor of Philosophy and Diploma of Modern Languages in Spanish.

“In the short period of time I’ve been involved, the Fogarty Foundation has allowed me to branch out and meet so many incredible people,” she said.

“It has been awesome as a country kid to have the door opened wide for me."

Amber plans to study postgraduate law with a focus on environmental and international affairs and relations.
