Krikke Motorsport claimed the WA Sprintcar Championship at the Perth Motorplex on Saturday night, with veteran driver Kerry Madsen taking out the 30 lap feature race.

Despite having arrived in WA from the US less than 24 hours from the race, Madsen showed few signs that he was driving in a new car or with a new team.

After finishing third during qualifying, Madsen peeled off back-to-back placings in his heats and ensured he would feature at the business end of the Gold Shootout festivities.

Despite a solid start to the feature, Madsen played second fiddle to Jason Kendrick early, who led during the opening five laps.

However from that moment on, Madsen weaved his magic and ensured the lead remained his until collecting the chequered flag.

Those keen to get their need for speed a little closer to home will be spoilt for choice at The Make Smoking History Bunbury Speedway on Saturday night, with the fabled Dan Love Summer Cup.

Headlining the last major meeting prior to Christmas, the street-stock event is always popular, with a solid program of legend cars, production sedans, junior sedans and the AMCA nationals complementing the entertainment.

The Make Smoking History Bunbury Speedway will bring in 2019 with a bang after being awarded the Grand Final of the USA vs WA Sprintcar Speedweek.

Three American drivers will be on hand to bring in the New Year at Bunbury Speedway on January 1.

Last year’s first-time visitor, Parker Price-Miller, returns to take on the best Western Australia has to offer.

Since we saw him last year, Price-Miller has had a strong year with 74 starts, gaining two wins – with one being major victory in the Bill Waite Jr Memorial at LaSalle Speedway in LaSalle, Illinois.

North Dakota native Mark Dobmeier is quite familiar with the Bunbury track, although it has been a long time between visits.

The third and final driver is 23-year-old professional racer Harli White from Oklahoma. She will be driving for Terry Cutts.
