Harvey-Brunswick-Leschenault will have extra motivation to defeat the Eaton Boomers this Sunday, with much-loved defender Jordan Sell to play his 150th game for the club.

The former captain will play the milestone match in one of the most important games of the season for the Lions, who are hoping to snap a two-game losing streak and keep themselves in the hunt for a top-three spot.

Lions coach Derek Hall said Sell was one of those players who had plenty of respect from his teammates.

“It (the milestone) means everything to the club,” he said.

“Jordan is a very loyal person. The boys I am sure will be extra keen to do well for him because of what he has done for the club.

“Jon Sabourne is also playing his 50th game. They are just HBL through and through.”

Hall said he was hoping his team would turn their form around after a tough few weeks.

The second-year coach acknowledged just how important Sunday’s game was.

“As much as you try not to look at it (the ladder), I am sure all coaches do,” he said.

“But we just need to string four good quarters of football together.”

Hall said after this weekend’s game against the Boomers, they played a number of teams who were in a similar position.

“When we play a certain way we are a hard team to go up against,” he said.

“It is a by-product of having a young list.

“When we play a certain way we play well, but when we don’t we lose our confidence and our structure.

“We want to be bold and move the ball quickly.”

The Lions are not the only team playing for finals spots, with Bunbury’s clash against Augusta-Margaret River also set to help shape the finals.

Meanwhile, Busselton and Carey Park clash in a game that could will have an impact on the make up of the top five.
