The dedicated efforts of Mission to Seafarers long-term volunteer the late Brian Price was acknowledged by Southern Ports Authority at a presentation last month.

A commemorative framed image of Bunbury port was gifted to the Mission by Southern Ports Authority communications coordinator Kylie Astbury who said Mr Price’s hours of service went a long way in supporting the port’s work.

“We loved working with Brian over the past 10 years, he was very special to us,” she said.

“Not only did he drive buses, he was extremely dedicated in tending to the needs of the seafarers.”

Mr Price’s wife Joy Price thanked SPA and the Mission for recognising and celebrating her husband’s work and said he loved his volunteer position.

“Most of his working life was spent in marketing but he truly loved anything to do with the port and transport,” she said.

“He knew how to network so he loved interacting with the sailors.

“We lived in Pelican Point so he would always point out ships and tell me what was being loaded and where the ships were going and coming from.

“He loved Bunbury and all his time working with the Mission and Southern Ports.”
