Meet the new face for SW tourism
The tourism specialist entrusted with promoting Bunbury-Geographe as a holiday attraction says the region has vast potential which could make it a popular destination among interstate visitors.
New Bunbury-Geographe regional tourism marketing and development manager Anissa Williams will spearhead the Bunbury-Wellington and Boyup Brook Regional Tourism Development Strategy.
The marketing expert will work closely with the councils of Bunbury, Harvey, Dardanup, Collie, Capel, Donnybrook-Balingup and Boyup Brook to implement the plan.
Ms Williams, who began the role on April 19, highlighted Bunbury-Wellington as an “evolving area”, with developing tourism spots including the Ferguson Valley and Koombana Bay in Bunbury.
“It is a really exciting time... we are moving in the right direction,” Ms Williams said.
Ms Williams began her tourism marketing career in Bunbury at the Bunbury Tourism Board.
Since then, she has plied her trade abroad, in the United Kingdom and United States, and across Australia in Queensland, Northern Territory and parts of WA.
Ms Williams said she was glad to be back in Bunbury and looked forward to working across all the seven councils involved in the plan.
“It is good to be back and to see some familiar faces around,” Ms Williams said.
“I hope I can bring a real broad spectrum of skills.
“It’s about being consumer centric. It’s important to focus on the visitors who are coming to the region.”
