Two of the Printsync South West Slammers’ most popular players will be honoured this weekend for their fantastic service to the club.

Men’s captain Clive Weeden will play his 150th game for the Slammers when they take on the Kalamunda Eastern Suns, while women’s co-captain Kate Fielding will be recognised for playing her 250th game earlier this month against Cockburn.

Fielding said she was proud to represent the club in more than 250 games.

“I’m super pumped to reach a milestone that only a select few have and to be alongside my best friend in Lisa Cartwright is pretty special,” she said.

The 32-year-old said the milestone was something she did not think she would achieve.

“Especially after moving to Perth for a few years and not thinking I would be back in Bunbury,” she said.

“It was always something I probably hoped to achieve because I love this club and wanted to play for as long as I could.”

Fielding said she was yet to make a decision as to whether she would play next year.

“But this year has definitely made me realise I can keep playing,” she said.

“I’ve pulled up really well from games, even double headers which surprised me. I would like to keep playing for as long as my body lets me, but at what level, I’m not sure yet.”

Slammers men’s coach Carl Catalano said Weeden had been great for the club on and off the court.

“What he has brought to the club and program for the past seven years has been outstanding,” he said.

“We still talk about it in the changerooms. His work ethic and work rate week in, week out is fantastic.

“The guys all look up to him and love playing with him and I love coaching him.”
