Moscow Ballet La Classique will bring Tchaikovsky’s tragic tale Swan Lake to life at the Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre on March 31.

Artistic director Elik Melikov spoke to the South Western Times from Moscow and promised La Classique’s production of the classic will “differ from all other productions bought to Australia previously.”

The company will perform the famous Russian fairytale of the beautiful swan queen Odette and the dark temptress Odile.

“For a long time we were thinking about the idea of producing this special show,” Melikov said.

“There has been a long period of rehearsals, creating costumes and sets and now the company has finally fulfilled it’s wish – it will at last bring one of the best ballets to Australia.”

The company also visited Australia in 2015 with a sold-out performance of sleeping beauty.

“Australia is such a beautiful country inhabited by beautiful, nice people and they are very theatrical,” Melikov said.

“As artists, we have a special interest to bring the company to Australia and believe the audience will appreciate this classical ballet.

“We are happy to return and will hopefully see new fans.”
