NBL1 West 2023: Slammers keen to pull off Magic trick away from home
Opportunity to record a second victory on Friday night in Mandurah is an exciting prospect for the South West Slammers men’s team.
However, Slammers coach Shane Goff knows the Magic, guided by Mark Utley’s seasoned basketball mind, are significantly better than their present winless record indicates.
“There has always been a strong rivalry between both clubs — as both areas have had best players outside of the metropolitan area.
“It is going to be a really good game and we are going to have to work really hard and be disciplined.
“It’s also an opportunity for them to come off the bottom of the ladder. I expect them to come out firing, as they had a couple of good games last weekend.”
Tip off is at 8.30pm.
Men: (Magic)
League position: 14th. Last round: lost to Lakeside Lightning 90-80, lost to Willetton Tigers 108-106; top performer (v Giants)— Ray Turner (12 points — 5/9 field goal attempts, 0/1 three-point attempts, 2/6 free throw attempts, 11 rebounds, zero assists, two steals).
