New arrival marks five generations
NEW additions to a family are always a joyous occasion but for one Bunbury family, the birth of Logan Mohenoa two weeks ago was even more special.
Logan’s entry into the world meant the family added a fifth-generation to its maternal lineage, all happily and healthily alive at the same time.
Sitting atop the family tree is Berta May who moved to Bunbury with her family, including daughter Christine Bock 56 years ago, for her husband to play with the Bunbury Football Club.
On being a great-great-grandmother for the first time, Berta’s excitement was hardly contained as she expressed her joy.
“We are all very proud and I feel elated for another generation to be added to our family,” she said.
As a first-time grandmother, Rachel Selleck agreed Logan’s birth brought happiness to the household.
“We were very excited to learn he would be born in Bunbury, we have had him for a while so it will be sad when he goes back to Groote Eylandt with his mother,” she said.
Having met Logan’s father on the Gulf of Carpentaria island during a mining job, Ashlee Selleck said leaving Bunbury would be hard, but bringing Logan into the world was a proud moment in continuing the family’s lineage.
